bouquets

I don’t see myself as having a green thumb at all, so I find it rather curious that I am so attracted to flowers lately.

Everyday I check on the various plants and bouquets that are strewn throughout my home and look to see how they have changed with each watering. Day by day, new blossoms appear.

What is this new obsession? Is it the move to California? The sunshine? The head space to take care of a plant?!? And then it occurred to me as I made a correlation to weaving. I have been thinking a lot about texture and ways to achieve it. Fabric can make some amazing changes once added to water. No wonder why I’m staring at flowers! I imagine this will show up on my loom eventually. I’m rather excited.

It always amazes me that no sooner do I have a warp on the loom that my mind has already wandered off and I’ve started designing the next scarf. I love how the ideas are growing organically as I experience the fibers as they turn into fabric. I am keeping my plan fairly loose to see how the collection evolves. I am hoping that sometime soon process will meet production and I will have some scarves to sell come fall!
