I have one paradisi scarf left. Although it’s not taking up a whole lot of room in my studio, I’d rather it be keeping the chill off of someone’s neck than sit on a shelf. It is currently on sale for $160. Order today and I will ship it in time for Mother’s Day! The store is here.

April 28, 2012happy day
April 11, 2012I love my scarf…and wear it all the time!!! I get lots of compliments on it too, people touching the tassels. Don’t touch!
I’m always happy when I see an email from Ursula of Modaspia in my inbox. It made my day even better to receive a photo of her wearing her elderberry scarf. XOXO right back!
on the loom
October 19, 2011
Here’s a sneak peek at what is growing on the loom. F/W 2011 will have 3 distinct colorways in limited edition. The next shop update will be mid-November.
If you are not familiar with Donor’s Choose, I highly recommend checking out the site. Many of our country’s public school teachers are underfunded and supporting their classroom needs on their own. Thanks to Donor’s Choose, everyone can help out a classroom in need. The project close to my heart is Ms. Aquino’s 5th grade class. They were able to get the funds to purchase a table loom, but still need funds to get the necessary tools such as shuttles, hooks, etc. which will make the loom work. Please consider helping them out. Any amount will be helpful, and the done-good feeling will last you a long time! Please visit the project page here.
introducing vaccinium
August 13, 2011The shop is now updated. There are only two vaccinium scarves available. These along with one remaining paradisi scarf are the last of the cotton/silk series for 2011. My next shop update will be in Oct/Nov when I launch my fall series. Happy shopping!
blue
July 28, 2011
I wrote awhile back that I was going to make the summer scarf in blue. All I had to do was tie the new blue warp to the old pink warp and keep weaving without having to re-thread the loom. Many house guests and a couple of trips out of town later, it is time to catch up. So the pink warp waited…

And one by one the blue warp threads got tied to the pink warp threads. That is a lot of little knots.

And now the weaving! I anticipate the scarves will be done and ready for a shop update by the end of next week. Stay tuned!

October 5, 2010more to come
September 28, 2010The not so good news: I am behind schedule which makes me unable to participate as a vendor in a big holiday fair. I was really hoping that I could pull that off and was doing fine schedule-wise until I ran into a snafu. Last week I found out the hard way that I have a severe allergy to a common local anesthetic. Recovering and following up with various doctors and moving on with life in general has simply gotten me behind in my weaving schedule.
The good news: I am totally fine! Yay! So now on to Plan B. I will be announcing my online shop very soon. I am so excited about this next venture and can’t wait to get the ball rolling.
friday loom shot
July 16, 2010I love the color of this scarf. A color called “Grey Teal” is right up my dusty color alley. There is just one problem. This scarf has a halo which is bad news on the comfort front. Mohair and alpaca have the yarn-loving world divided. Some find mohair to be the softest of all yarn. It is ethereal and light and oh so pretty. And then there are others (like me) who can’t even have the slightest percentage of it. I have a pair of socks made with 15% mohair and they are 15% itchy.
Alpaca does not typically seem to have a reputation of being itchy. If anything, it seems to be the wonder fiber. It’s light, warmer than wool and very soft. I have knit with some alpaca that was just deliciously cushy. I recently took a poll of some friends and they were split down the middle. Alpaca has far less of a halo than mohair, but once a person is sensitive to hairy yarn, they are always sensitive. So even if a yarn is soft, those few hairs that poke out of the yarn can make a person itch, especially when wrapped around the neck.
This may change some of my plans for scarves I want to make.
So tell me, do you think alpaca is soft or does it make you twitch?
