GARMENT CARE

What are natural dyes?

Natural dyes are a gentle alternative to mass-produced synthetic dyes, derived from natural sources, such as wood, flowers, and the occasional insect. We love them for their harmonious colorways, inherent biodegradability, and natural beauty. 

A few of our favorites:

Wood - Cutch, Osage & Logwood

Roots - Madder & Himalayan Rhubarb

Flowers - Marigolds, Goldenrod

Leaves - Indigo

Insects - Cochineal, Lac

Nuts - Black Walnut, Acorns

How do I care for my naturally dyed pieces?

Hemp, linen, and cotton (cellulose fibers): Wash by hand or on delicate cycle with cool water and a gentle, PH neutral detergent such as Seventh Generation Free & Clear or Dropps. Air dry or lay flat out of direct sunlight. 

Vintage linens: Hand wash in cool water with a PH neutral detergent. Dry flat out of direct sunlight.

Wool and silk (protein fibers): Hand wash in cool water with a gentle, PH neutral woolwash such as Kookaburra. Air dry out of direct sunlight. When not in use, we recommend storing in a sealed container or cedar closet.

Citrus can alter the color of natural dyes permanently. Please rinse immediately with cool water.

All pieces can be ironed if you wish. Always store your garments out of direct sunlight. 

The color of my garment changed. What can I do?

Natural dyes can transform with time or exposure to elements. Embrace the beauty of changing color or experiment with over-dyeing to achieve something new. Sign up for our newsletter for tutorials and upcoming dye workshops.

When will my item ship?

Please allow up to one week for processing. You will receive an email with tracking when your item has shipped. Shipping services are still experiencing delays, so please plan purchases accordingly.

Do you ship outside of the U.S.?

Yes! We now ship internationally.

RETURNS

What is your return policy?

We do not accept returns or exchanges with the exception of our Muse top. To request a return authorization, please email info@pirtti.com with “RETURN REQUEST” in the subject line, within 7 days of receiving your Muse top.
